I’m a PhD researcher in The Department of Geography at the University of Manchester. I study rivers and how river processes develop through time as a result of changing climate. I love my science, and I am excited about making science as inclusive as possible, especially to young women!
I have known Phil and Tabatha, the creators of Pentlands Hill Gin, all my life. They are some of the warmest, most joyful people I’ve ever met – just the kind of people you want to have a gin and tonic with!
Antarctic Expedition for Women in Science
When I told them about my upcoming expedition to Antarctica they were incredibly supportive. I’m traveling to Antarctica this New Year as part of a leadership training program for women in science. As one of 80 women from 27 different countries, I will spend 3 weeks living on a ship and exploring the Antarctic Peninsula.
The aim of the voyage is to equip women in science with the skills and network they need to reach leadership positions. As a team of women in science, we are united by our determination to work toward sustainability and inclusivity.
G&T on the Ice
I’m taking a bottle of Pentlands Hill Gin to Antarctica and can’t wait to have a G&T with the penguins. It will be a wonderful home comfort after a long day of discussions and workshops. The bottle is beautiful to hold and I can’t wait to deliver it back to Edinburgh safely (and empty) to be re-used!
I’m so grateful for the encouragement Phil and Tabatha have given me. I’m happy I can play a part in encouraging and celebrating their hard work.
