Farewell – Panza is retiring

Pentland Hills Gin distillery will be closed as of 30 June 2026 the distillery.

Tabatha, Phil, Panza, Jasmine, Pepper and Luke the cat will be moving to our new home

Well, and I woof this with no small degree of sadness, it is time (almost) to say farewell. The Head Distiller has distilled his final batch of Original Gin and the last refills and miniatures are on the way to customers. It’s a bit of a madhouse around here at the moment as packing boxes and rubbish skips keep appearing and disappearing. Frankly in this ridiculously hot weather it’s enough to make the Scottish Gin Dog and his doggy mates want to hide under a big shady tree - which we are doing a lot at the moment.

It has been enormous fun, from the huge 3 day events, 3500 people who would attend the Gin 2 My Tonic festivals around the country, sharing and sleeping with my mum and dad in a tent at the Game Fair at Scone, to the wonderful people of Balerno and West Linton who supported us at their Farmers Markets I cannot give you a big enough lick to say ‘thank you’. I’ve done some numbers - difficult for a dog I know but Mum gave me a lot of help. So here goes:

Over 6000 bottles of gin sold

Over 1500 refills

Many Awards, including Best Gin in Scotland (the Firework) and a 3 Star Great Taste for the Navy. Head Distiller Phil is owed a huge pat on the head but he’s most happy being sent to a river with a fishing rod in his hand.

1000s of miles travelled but best of all many 100s of friends made

Thank you Panza Pals, it’s been a howl and a blast, we thank you for all the happy times and the bottles you have bought and the gin you enjoyed.

A small update – there maybe, just maybe a chance that Pentland Hills Gin will be distilled elsewhere (but most importantly in the Pentland Hills). Nothing is certain but if it happens, I will let you know.
